Stormy Edith Cavell

Painting outside can be an adventure, especially in the mountains! The weather can change from one moment to the next - you really never know what to expect. I hadn't been painting for that long - maybe a couple of years - and I was up on the meadow painting Mount Edith Cavell. Suddenly huge hail clouds - massive cumulonimbus clouds rolled in. The wind picked up and literally grabbed my painting off the easel. It tumbled end over end down the meadow, still wet! I chased after it, snatched it up and jumped into the car for shelter. I really thought that painting was toast! But in the end, that sky turned out to be one of the best I've ever done - totally by accident!
